X-Plus made a bunch of reveals at Summer Wonder Festival 2018 including Godzilla, Gamera, Kong, and Ultraman related figures. The big story, pun intended, was two new Gigantic series figures Godzilla '89 and Mechagodzilla '74 the first non Godzilla Toho Gigantic, no dates or info was given yet on these. Another Gigantic was revealed Ultraman Jack, which has a Dec 2018 release date. Back to the Toho related releases was a Large Monster series Monster X which has an Oct 2018 release date. Another Toho release is the Soft series Landing Stage Hedorah (it is unclear if he will come with the building next to him), it is also scheduled for Oct 2018 release. Another surprise was the Large Monster series Gamera 1999, it looks to come with a second head (probably the Ric), it as well has an Oct 2018 release date. There was an Ultraman Ace Large Monster series figure as well as two Ultra kaiju on display, they also have Oct 2018 release dates. X-Plus revealed three new DefoReal figures Kong, Godzilla '62, and Godzilla '64, as well as a Pop Color Chart of Shin's, and the line up of DefoReals. The interesting one of the DefoReals was Kong in a dynamic pose fighting a Skullcrawler. Most figures as you can see here were still unpainted more info and pics as we get it, pics courtesy of X-Plus, Jay Davies, and Mark Dark.

Yesterday we got some Godzilla figure leaks now we have confirmation that both S.H. MonsterArts and NECA will release Godzilla 1962 figures. NECA's reveal comes via SDCC (via Toyark), the figure was on display with Shin Godzilla Emission version previously announced and a Deco Sheet (basically a mini poster using the the '54 figure). No release date for the two new items and we are curious if there will be a repaint of the '54 the go with the deco sheet. More info as we get it.
Update: one of our eagle eyed fans realized that the Deco Sheet is actually a figure standing in front of the mini poster, his left arm is in front of his breath effect and you can see his tail off to the side. Pics have surfaced of the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla '62 figure, a figure that has been rumored to being coming. We can expect the figure to be similar in height and retail cost as other figures, one thing we know, at least based on the pic, is it will come with a breath effect. We will post more info as we get it.
Update: The figure is now up on the Baidai Premium site with all the info and new pics. The figure is 16cm tall, comes with breath effect and stand for effect, and will retail for 9,936 yen. Pre-orders start July 20th on the Tamashii Web Shop with release scheduled for Dec 2018. X-Plus is releasing a Gigantic Godzilla 1962 Kit at Summer Wonder Festival, Sunday July 29th. The kit is not painted but does come with parts (back fins and mouth) that will glow in the dark and features a classic model kit styling on the box. It appears to be the same as the original version in pose and size (48cm), and features 40 parts. There will be 40 available at Wonder Festival and 60 more from a web lottery afterwards (date not announced), it retails for 16,000 yen (approx $142 US) which makes it an inexpensive option, if you have the skills to assemble and paint it, for a Gigantic figure.
X-Plus is releasing two new figures, sort of, the DefoReal Godzilla 2001 (below), and Gigantic Shin Godzilla Roaring Version (bottom). The DefoReal comes in two versions Ric and standard, the Ric features Baragon (who is being stepped on) and an open mouth pose, the standard features a closed mouth. Both stands approx 13cm tall and retail for 6,480 yen (approx $59 US). They can be pre-ordered now from X-Plus (Ric) and other retailers (standard) with release scheduled for Nov 2018. The Shin Godzilla is the same sculpt as previously released but with a roaring head (instead of the closed mouth, or split jaw emissions version), this features the reddish body coloring as well, it also comes with a tail stand. It stands 49cm tall and retails for 73,440 yen (approx $660 US). This can be pre-ordered from X-Plus or the Godzilla Store with release scheduled for Nov 2018.
Note: the Ric site has been redone there is now Japanese and US sites, if you live outside Japan it automatically redirects to the US site and at this point the Godzilla figures are not on the US site. |
