X-Plus has shown this figure at a few shows now we have full details, the Godzilla 2000 (1999) Poster Version is based on a poster for the film where it is nighttime and Godzilla appears to have a reddish glow. This figure has an open/close function for the mouth and a light up gimmick for the fins which are molded in a clear orange/red color, the body also has similar highlights. It stands 30cm tall and 47cm in length, and will retail for 22,000 yen. It can be pre-ordered now with release in May from the Ric site, and also the Bandai Premium site.
We have previously posted both of these, here are the pics of them from Winter Wonder Festival. The 5th form is creepy.
X-Plus normal shows a few new figures at shows but with Winter Wonder Festival they went over the top. They have over 10 new or updated figures plus other previouly shown figures, most pics are from Jay Davies on Facebook. The massive reveal, in more ways than one, is the Gigantic Series Shin Godzilla. This figure is huge and looks to have both regular and roaring heads. Besides that figure there was a number of other Shin Godzilla figures, both 2nd and 3rd forms (the tags seem to have them as different series for some reason), some deformed style figures of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th forms, a 30cm Series Yuji Sakia Shin Godzilla kit (pic only, was at separate booth, bottom pics), and there was also a roaring head(?) with the deformed figures. Besides the Shins there was Sanda and Gaira busts, painted Gabara with Minya (Ric exclusive?), painted 30cm Burning Godzilla, Final Wars Godzilla (unpaint, as well as Ghidorah 2001 Ric version. There was a female alien from a Godzilla film and a number of Ultraman figures too. More info on these figures as we got it.
Update: more pics and some other info. Gabara, Godzilla 1999, and Kaiser Ghidorah (delayed) release date May, all other new figures no release dates yet (per tags). Diamond revealed 6 new X-Plus Godzilla reissue figures, via John from Kaiju Addicts, they include Battra Larva, Gigan (with Ric exclusive parts), MechaGodzilla '75, MechaGodzilla/Kiryu '02, Godzilla '14 Emission Version, and Godzilla '54 Train Biter (without base). Not displayed but also to be reissued will be the Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla '92. Release dates and prices were not revealed. More info as we get it.
NECA has revealed their Godzilla 2001 Atomic Blast version, this figure is not a new sculpt but looks like a repaint possible with clear parts. It also seems to be the first Godzilla figure to come with a breath effect (like S.H. MonsterArts figures normally do). It looks like release is scheduled for 3rd quarter 2017. Premium Japanese Collectibles Brand Marks 10th Anniversary Expanding North American Presence In 2017 With New L.A. Office And Exclusive New Products For Domestic Consumers And Fans Anaheim, CA, February 14, 2017 – Tamashii Nations, the collector’s toy division of Bandai Japan and its most premium label for ages 15 and up, is expanding its footprint in North America as it prepares to mark its 10th anniversary this Spring. Since its inception in 2007, Tamashii Nations’ portfolio has grown to include products from top entertainment properties such as Star Wars, Marvel, WWE, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and DC. These new Western licenses compliment the Japanese anime and manga properties contributing to the brand’s meteoric rise in popularity among toy collectors. “Tamashii Nations is an authentic Japanese brand, however, North America is an important part of our growth strategy,” said Adam Newman, Senior Director of Tamashiii Nations at Bandai. “To facilitate that growth, we’ve opened a Los Angeles office to better understand our U.S. fans and capitalize on the advantages of local access to the entertainment industry, retail partners, and our official distribution partner Bluefin.” Pioneering technologies like the Digital Color Technology, which prints an exact life-like representation of a character on the portrait of its S.H. Figuarts action figures, have been a key factor in the growing affinity for the Tamashii Nations brand. “Tamashii Nations is synonymous with quality and as the largest dedicated distributor for Japanese collectibles and imports in North America, we are well positioned to help Tamashii Nations increase its market share and expand their consumer base here in the U.S.,” said John Parker, President of Bluefin. As the official distributor for Tamashii Nations’ products in the U.S., Bluefin oversees channel distribution to retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Toys “R” Us, GameStop, and Hot Topic / BoxLunch. Operations in North America have grown ten-fold since the two companies started their relationship eight years ago. To celebrate the continued success of the Tamashii Nations brand, an international touring exhibit visiting 10 major cities around the world is making its only U.S. stop in New York City this spring. The Tamashii Nations 10th Anniversary World Tour will take place on Sat. and Sun., April 29-30 at the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. The event, which is free to visit, includes specially curated displays featuring exclusive and never-before-seen Tamashii Nations items, as well as a wide array of products available for retail purchase. More details are available at: https://tamashii.jp/special/tour/. Bluefin will showcase an extensive collection of new and forthcoming Tamashii Nations releases at Toy Fair New York, taking place February 18-21 at the Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center in New York City. The annual conference and trade show is the industry’s largest gathering. Bluefin will be located in Booth #5331.
