​This Father’s Day season, head over to Target stores to get the latest edition of NECA’s Ultimate King Kong figure. This new version Stands 8″ tall with super detailed hair and battle wounds across the body and brand new head sculpts, this massive figure has over 30 points of articulation. The figure includes two brand new interchangeable heads (one with jaw articulation), 3 pairs of interchangeable hands, a Pit Monster, Pteranodon, and tree trunk accessory! King Kong will be first to Target this June, and available at your favorite NECA retailers later this summer, and should retail for approx. the same price as the previous versions .

Update: NECA has posted a second new version of Kong this version appears to be the same figure but with different accessories and packaging. The new figure includes a biplane, shackles, and the package has NYC artwork, pictures at bottom.

Atlantis is releasing the ​King Kong Glow Square Box 1:30 Scale Model Kit. This kit features glow in the dark parts similar to the Godzilla kit that was recently released, it also features a base that has been restored from the original kit, it retails for $33.99. It can be pre-ordered now from Cult TV Man with release later this year.

NECA will be releasing the Deluxe King Kong Illustrated Version Figure a repainted version of their previously released King Kong figure. This version is say to reflect classic posters from the film and looks to include the same accessories as the previous version. It will be release at Walmart as an early exclusive in March and than in other retailers afterwards and should retail for approx. the same price as the previous version. Pics via Toyark. THROWBACK THURSDAY: WHEN KONG WAS KING
​In 2005 Peter Jackson released KING KONG, his remake of the 1933 blockbuster. Hailed as a modern classic it went on to gross over half a billion dollars. Fans clamored for merchandise and Mezco Toyz answered the call with what many consider the finest King Kong figure ever produced.

Standing an imposing 15 inches tall, Mezco’s King Kong featured 9 points of articulation. His cleverly articulated hips allowed him to stand upright (perfect for swatting those pesky biplanes) or lean forward to go into a traditional “knuckle walk” pose. 
Peter Jackson made Kong incredibly expressive and Mezco created three head styles to capture Kong’s many looks:
· An open mouth roaring head
· A closed mouth angry head
· A sad / contemplative head

Mezco stayed true to the film’s design and included numerous scars from injuries old and new. Packaged in a huge widow box with eye-catching King Kong graphics it caught the attention of fans worldwide and despite (in 2017) being out of production for a decade, it continues to remain popular with collectors.
