Rampage had another strong weekend outing while it finished a close second to surprise hit A Quiet Place it beat to new films. Rampage ($21 million) was only a million behind A Quiet Place and beat both Super Troopers 2 ($14.7 million), and I Feel Pretty ($16.2 million) both in their first weekend.
Rampage's drop of 41% from it's first week was better than many thought, it's US take is at $66.6 million, with it's international total at $216.4 million, for a total of $283 million. While this is positive news for Rampage it's not such good news for Pacific Rim: Uprising, the other recently released monster film.
Rampage has already overtaken PRU even though it open two weeks after it. In the US Rampage is ahead by $8 million, and even though PRU has a $7 million advantage internationally Rampage is ahead by $1 million overall. What also does't help PRU is they had a home field advantage, so to speak, with China (the owners of Legendary Pictures are based there) and after a strong start the box office there has collapsed for the film and it looks like if will fall far short of the first film despite that stronger start.
Critics ratings of the two films weren't far apart but fan ratings were much better for Rampage, which probably has help Rampage to stay strong at the box office (82% for Rampage vs. 47% for PRU via RT).
Other issue is profit, PRU budget was $150 million while Rampage was only $120 million, even if they finished around the same total take Rampage would have the better bottom line. Legendary/Universal did more promoting of PRU too (via social media, and more merchandise tie-ins) but those didn't seem to help. The possible sequel looks very unlikely at this point for PRU.
Update 4/24: Actuals have come in and PRU has edged up a little worldwide, slightly ahead of Rampage. Most of the rest posted stayed the same.

Day 1. Kicking off production.
In our story we have three animals who fall victim to evil genetic editing, rapidly changing every strand of their DNA so they grow, evolve and mutate. Everything becomes amplified.. their size, strength, speed, agility.. and violent aggression.
One of the animals infected - a rare Albino gorilla named, George, is my best friend.
George, is played by 6'9" Jason Liles, pictured here. Jason has been studying gorillas for months now preparing for this motion capture role. Gorillas movements, body language, and all emotions - joy, pain, sadness, love, aggression etc. It's insane when you get around this man and how he's able to embody a gorilla. This is the most fascinating advanced VFX/motion cap process I've ever worked with in my career.

In 2008 producer J.J. Abrams and director Matt Reeves released Cloverfield a monster movie filmed from the point of view of those involved, six NYC residents at a going away party. The party is interrupted by "an attack" of what it's unknown. We eventually see the creatures involved small ones slightly smaller than humans and one gigantic one.
The film is sort of like the audience is viewing found footage of the attack and the video is very jittery because the characters are trying to get out of NYC and away from the attack through out the film. The film did receive mostly positive reviews although some moviegoers didn't like the way the film was shot. Rumors of a sequel have been around for a while but there was nothing positive on that front till now.
10 Cloverfield Lane is the title of the sequel while the description of the film is sounding like it may not be reading between the lines, so to speak, it definitely sounds like it is. The film features Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. and has them hiding out from something in an underground shelter. Produced by J.J. Yongary is being released on Blu-ray, which we have heard, now some details have emerged check them out below (from Blu-ray.com).
Kino Lorber have detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of director Kinm Ki-duk's film Yongary, Monster From the Deep (1967), starring Oh Yeong-il, Nam Jeong-im, and Lee Sun-jae. The release will be available for purchase on January 5.

Yongary: Monster From The Deep (1967) a Korean film that is considered there version of Godzilla has been released on DVD in Japan for the first time. Run Corporation is releasing it and it was available on July 23, the release is the American dubbed version as rumor is no original Korean version exist.
