When Toho announced Shin Godzilla everyone's curiosity peaked with just what would it look like. When it was revealed, love it or hate it, we knew most toy companies would make figures of it. As we know now there are multiple forms and figures were released of each, with more on the way. While there can easily be debate as to who has done it best, Bandai, S.H. MonsterArts, X-Plus, or even NECA we know who may have hit a homerun with theirs, Albatross Japan. Albatross Japan has been teasing many in progress pics and now has release pics of the pretty much finalize versions of all five figures, yes 5! They are releasing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 4th forms. The first is the version in the water where you only see it's back and tail, the second and third are the ones we see in it's first land appearance, and the to fourth forms are a regular and emissions versions. The sculpts and paint schemes on these figures look incredible besides the completeness of doing all the forms, Albatross Japan did an amazing job, all we need to know now is availability and price. We will post the official final pics and info once available.

NECA has released a number of figures in there Godzilla line, their most recent reveal was Shin Godzilla, the latest incarnation of this classic monster. Their most recent release however is Godzilla 2001 (GMK), that was featured in 2001's Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: All Out Attack.
This version is definitely a fan favorite, a classic yet modern design with a very aggressive look, sort of evil. Many toy companies have recently released versions of this figure now NECA has released theirs. Up to now, arguably, their best figure was Godzilla '54 but admit-tingly this figure is quite well done.
The overall sculpt is spot on, while some will compare to other companies figures, I felt that this figure was an excellently designed figure. Articulation on this figure is great too, NECA has improved the fit of the joints to give it a cleaner look then some early figures. An example of the improvement is the tail the joints are further down the tail before you get to the end (which like other is a solid piece with internal wire) and are less noticeable.

If I had to find fault with anything there are two issues, both minor. The back spikes are fine on the main portion of the back but the ones where the tail starts are not painted very well, looking from one side it can be accepted but it's more noticeable from the other side. It also seems like the edges of these spikes are rougher then the others possibly part of the problem.
The other issue also paint related involves the lower jaw, looking closely it appears the entire jaw is either the same color as the inside of the mouth or the inside was painted first and the outside skin color didn't cover it all because of the skin texture. There are a few spots if you look closely you can see it but it's not noticeable at a quick glace. A second issue with the lower jaw is the tongue, which is a separate piece, the paint doesn't cover it all the way to the back of the mouth, you won't notice it unless you look for it because when posed normally the head is tilted forward.
Other then the minor paint issues this is right there with Godzilla '54 as one of the best NECA Godzilla figures, possible the best, and a definite must have, you can't go wrong with this awesome figure.
