The four-part connecting cover series captures key moments in sequential order from the film, as well as the iconic monster, paying homage to one of the most revered characters in all of horror.
Longtime fans of the iconic 1931 Frankenstein film from Universal Pictures and new fans alike can expect to be completely enthralled by this new horror classic when issue #1 hits comic book shops on August 28, 2024.
Comics superstar Michael Walsh resurrects one of the most iconic monsters of all time in a jaw-dropping, re-imagining of the horror hit. Readers can expect each issue of the limited series to tell the shocking story behind one of the corpse parts used to create the unforgettable monster in the original film.
In this first issue, Dr. Henry Frankenstein begins his unholy quest to create life by robbing the grave of a decorated police officer to find necessary parts, specifically a strong pair of hands. But little does he know that the corpse has a son who is mourning a father – and that this young boy will forever change Frankenstein’s life.
In addition to the main cover by Michael Walsh and the first of the four-part connecting cover series by Francesco Francavilla, Universal Monsters: Frankenstein #1 boasts a variant cover lineup from top artists including Joshua Middleton, David Talaski and Christian Ward, as well as a blank sketch cover.
Universal Monsters: Frankenstein is the third Universal Monsters comics series launch from Skybound, following James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ Dracula (which netted Simmonds a BEST PAINTER/MULTIMEDIA ARTIST (INTERIOR ART) Eisner Award nomination) and Dan Watters, Ram V, and Matthew Roberts’ Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! Frankenstein will be followed by more new limited series pairing the biggest names in comics with pop culture’s most iconic monsters.
Universal Monsters: Frankenstein #1 (of 4) (Lunar Codes Below | SRP: $4.99) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

ABOUT UNIVERSAL MONSTERS
Over 75 years ago, Universal Pictures introduced the public to some of the most iconic horror characters in cinematic history that would live on in pop-culture for decades to come. Now known as Universal Monsters, these larger-than-life creatures, including Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and The Wolf Man, continue to haunt our nightmares today. The original Frankenstein, written by 20 yr old Mary Shelley, was first published in 1818. The 1931 film adaptation starring Boris Karloff as the monster made of corpse parts brought back to life, was a perfect blend of awe-inspiring terror and gentle heartbreaking pathos.

SKYBOUND & IMAGE ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF JAMES HARREN’S BLOCKBUSTER SERIES ULTRAMEGA
The Hit Kaiju Series Returns to Comic Book Shops for Its Second Arc This September
Praise for Ultramega:
“This comic will blow you away and leave nothing but rubble and ashes in its wake.” - ComicBook.com
“Highly recommended for all fans of Harren’s and Stewart’s works, as both put their best efforts into this story.” - Library Journal
LOS ANGELES 05/29/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics announced the upcoming return of the Eisner Award nominated series Ultramega by creator, writer, and artist James Harren (BPRD, Rumble) and colorist Dave Stewart (Hellboy, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!).
The next chapter of the critically acclaimed series that absolutely rocked the world of comics when it debuted will return to comic book shops with Ultramega #5 on September 18, 2024.
Following the devastating events in volume one, Noah takes on the Ultramega mantle from his father, but will he be able to save the world...or has the world been doomed from the start?
When Kaiju invaded Earth, three humans were granted the power of Ultramega to save humanity…They failed. Now, a new Ultramega has risen in this brutal world without heroes or hope. But the Kaiju Queen isn’t the only challenge he must face. Deep in the stars, they gather. Psychotic. Cold. A WORLD of ULTRAMEGA.
“James is one of the most talented comic book creators working today, and with ULTRAMEGA Arc 2, he’s topped himself” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher, Skybound. “The second arc features fights even more colossal than the first, horror more cosmic than you can even comprehend, and a hero’s journey warped by shattered bones and hundreds of gallons of spilled blood. It’s the BEST.”
The massive 72-page issue will feature a main cover by Harren & Stewart, an open to order variant cover by the legendary Mike Mignola (Hellboy) & Stewart, a 1:10 incentive black and white variant cover by Mignola, a 1:25 incentive black and white variant cover by Harren, and a blank sketch cover.
