Kong: Skull Island continues to do very well at the box office, it performed strong in it's second weekend making nearly $30 million. Kong's US total sits at just over $110 million, and it total overseas was just under $150 million, a total take of over $259 million.
Compared to Godzilla Kong's first weekend (US) was $61 million to Godzilla's $93 million, their 10 day totals were $110 to $148 million, this means Kong dropped off less than Godzilla did after it's opening weekend. This was despite the fact Beauty And The Beast had a record opening this weekend, and surprisingly Kong beat Godzilla in it's second Saturday numbers $12.3 million for Kong to Godzilla's $11.8 million. Kong is also nearly at half of Godzilla's total overseas total $149 to $328 (million) and Kong's is yet to have China the second largest film market behind the US, Godzilla's total includes that. Kong's possible China take could be in the $75 to $100 million range or more if it can match Pacific Rim's China take which was nearly $112 million which is entirely possible. The future is very bright for the MonsterVerse.
