“Godzilla” opened to monster numbers at the China box office on Friday with $10.9 million for the biggest opening day of 2014.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ reboot of the classic franchise outgrossed this year’s previous opening-day champs, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and is expected to finish No. 1 in the region.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, “Godzilla” has earned nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office.
The film has opened in all international territories except Japan.
