Megahouse has officially announced their Godzilla 2019 UA Monsters figure. This figure stands 30cm tall, features both lights and sound, and comes with a logo base. The light up feature allows both the fins, mouth, and eyes to light in sequence. It retails for 36,300 yen from Megahouse's website but will also be available from other dealers (Bandai, AmiAmi, etc.) as well with release scheduled for Jan 2020.
We have a few better pics of the Art Spirits display via Toyark, on display were previously announced figures, the forthcoming Godzilla 2019 Hyper Solid figure and new Godzilla KOTM figures. The previous figures include the Gigan, Shin Godzilla 4th and 2nd forms as well as older blind box Gamera figures that may have been available for purchase at the show. The new figures were the recently revealed Godzilla 2019 and the line up of KOTM figures (minus Mothra) that appear the be a smaller scale. Of note Toyark list these as from the Plex (X-Plus) booth, we knew Plex was involved and we believe X-Plus may be doing manufacturing for Art Spirits but we are not sure if this booth was actual branded Plex/X-Plus.
Update: the smaller KOTM figures will be blind box figures and there will be six total, Mothra (adult and larva) and another Godzilla. Diamond Select has revealed more Godzilla vinyl statues, Rodan 1993 and Godzilla 1993 in what are poster poses from the famed Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla poster by Noriyoshi Ohrai, these both look really cool. Both hae a winter 2020 release date on there cards, and if we get a Mechagodzilla to go with these it would be even more awesome (please, please). Also what looks like a new line of Art Spirits Hyper Solid figures were revealed, Godzilla, Rodan, and Ghidorah from King of the Monsters, they appear smaller than the normal Hyper Solid figures and are schedule for December 2019. More info on these as we get it, Credit for pics to Toyark and Kaiju News Outlet.
Godzilla has a presence at SDCC despite Warner Bros./Legendary not being there, besides the announced Toho booth there was a presence at the Famous Monsters booth, NECA booth, and Tamashii booth. The Famous Monsters booth, along with Summit Kaiju, featured a number of X-Plus figures, on display were the Gigantic Godzilla 2019, Kong V2 Fighting Version (as well as V1, 4th Qtr release), and new reveals of DefoReal Ghidorah 2019 (Dec 2019 release), DefoReal Rodan 2019 (placeholder image), and DefoReal Mothra 2019 (placeholder image). NECA had a minimal Godzilla section with packages for King of the Monsters figures and some older ones, what was interesting was the two besides the recent 1956 Poster version, a 1954 in deluxe package and 1984/5 in deluxe package, it is unclear what these are (tag was hidden). Tamashii display wasn't anything new but feature their King of the Monster figures and the Godzilla statue that has been making the rounds. Toho's booth didn't have much that we haven't already known about an interesting note is the box of the Godzilla 1954 exclusive, the top of the box lists years, 1954, 1968, 1974, 2000, and 2020. It's the 2020 that has us and fans intrigued since there has been no official announcements of a 2020 figure or if this is Legendary's or a new Toho version. More updates from SDCC as we get it on all this and possibly more. Pics from Famous Monsters/Summit Kaiju, Toyark, NECA, Tamashii, Toho, CriterionCast, and Kaiju Kingdom Podcast.
Update: NECA's display has been updated (pic below) with other images/packages, and the 1964 figure as well as a 1984/5 that appears to be slightly updated, it is unclear if that figure will be a re-release or a new version. Also a Fire Godzilla 2019 is being released as well down the line. X-Plus showed a while back there Gigantic Godzilla 2019 figure prototype now we have what appears to be the final product (standard version). Dengeki Hobby as well as a few other sites have posted the pics and info, though it is not up on the X-Plus site yet. The figure stands 47cm tall (approx 18.5 inches) and is 97cm in length (approx 38 inches), it will retail for 66,000 yen and will be released in Nov 2019. It hints that the Ric version will have "emissions" dorsal fins (possibly clear blue or painted blue). More info on official release and Ric versions as we get it.
This is now up on the X-Plus site but it is still the standard version which must be ordered from third party dealers, It suggests the Ric will come later. From Banpresto.
From 2019's Godzilla: King of Monsters comes an adorable chibi Deforume Ghidorah figure! This 3.5 inch figure stands on a rock-like base posed as if he's creating a menacing roar. Set to be released alongside Godzilla 2019. In Shops: Dec, 2019 SRP: $24.99 |
