Toho Special Effects All Monster Encyclopedia Coming in July

Publisher Shogakukan Inc. will release the Toho Special Effects All Monster Encyclopedia (東宝特撮全怪獣図鑑, Toho Tokusatsu Zen Kaijuu Zukan) in Japan on July 23rd. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Godzilla, this large picture book profiles Toho monsters, aliens and super-humans featured in Toho’s FX movies, videos and television shows from the original GODZILLA (1954) to the new GODZILLA (2014).

The Toho Special Effects All Monster Encyclopedia features hundreds of characters, from selections such as Toho’s top five monster stars — Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla to second-tier movie kaiju, obscure beasts, and also heroes and villains from TV series like RAINBOWMAN: PROFESSIONAL HITMAN (愛の戦士レインボーマン, Ai no Senshi Reinbooman, 1972-73), ZONE FIGHTER (流星人間ゾーン, Ryuusei Ningen Zoon, 1973) and GRANSAZERS (超星神グランセイザー, Chooseishin Guranseizaa, 2003-04).
