Legendary pushed back its fantasy actioner Skull Island and gave it a clearer title – now it’s Kong: Skull Island, in case you didn’t know which King of the movie apes called the primordial paradise home – as the company shuffled some tentpole dates around today.
The origin tale is set on the fictional island home of King Kong, where a team of explorers led by Tom Hiddleston explore into the treacherous jungle in what Legendary describes as a “new, distinct timeline” within the iconic beast’s canon. Helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer), the 3D and IMAC 3D pic is moving from November 4, 2016 to March 10, 2017.
Note: This means it would open a month before Pacific Rim 2, it will be interesting to see if they move that film as will, both are Legendary produced films.
