Legendary Comics announced new titles including one that includes a monster of sorts, A Town Called Dragon. They showed a teaser for the upcoming comics a couple of days ago now giving a few more details as well as announcing a deal with Penguin Random House. Check out the info below and the teaser above (which we posted on Facebook).
A TOWN CALLED DRAGON
Writer: Judd Winick
Artist: Geoff Shaw
Modern-day America and ancient mythology collide when the last dragon egg finally hatches, and an ordinary group of citizens must unite to defeat it.
Coming in September 2014.
Legendary Comics, a division of Legendary Entertainment, announced today it has entered into an exclusive multi-year sales and distribution agreement with Penguin Random House Publisher Services, a division of Penguin Random House, that will service Legendary to the book trades. Legendary will continue to work with Diamond in the direct market. In addition to distribution, Penguin Random House will provide sales, production, and publishing services.
“We want to deliver great comics, and this new agreement with Penguin Random House enables us to be much more effective in bringing our stories to readers. We are very excited by this new venture,” said David Sadove of Legendary’s Publishing Operations.
Jeff Abraham, President of Penguin Random House Publisher Services, added “Legendary is known for creating some of the most popular films of the past decade. We’re excited to partner with Legendary Comics and to help grow their publishing unit into a thriving participant in the graphic novel market.”
In addition to announcing the new partnership, Legendary Comics is announcing three new titles today.
"Penguin Random House Publisher Services’ expertise will enable us to broaden our reach as we expand our ever-growing catalogue. Working with a mix of seasoned comic book pros and some bright newcomers, we are committed to delivering the best new stories, characters and worlds in the industry. The three new titles we are announcing today are just the tip of the iceberg of what's to come from Legendary Comics,” said Bob Schreck, Legendary Comics’ Editor-In-Chief.

Review
“Art of Destruction provides a glimpse at how the filmmakers envisioned the chaos and devastation they wanted their film to encompass. From what we’ve seen from the finished product, they did a hell of a job translating the ideas from page to screen. Even the cover of this book is freaking epic.”

The new Toho SFX Actress Encyclopedia is a treasure trove of photos and information about the leading ladies of Toho's fantasy films. © 2011 Yosensha Co. Ltd./ Toho Co., Ltd.
Author: Loren Portillo Official Site: Toho SFX Actress Encyclopedia Released in Japan barely a month ago, the incredible softcover book Toho SFX Actress Encyclopedia (別冊映画秘宝 東宝特撮女優大全集, Toho tokusatsu jouyuu taizenshuu) covers 50 years of Toho special effects film actresses, from 1954 to 2004. Published by Yosensha Co. Ltd., this 158 page marvel includes a stunning amount of rare color and B&W photographs of some of the most beautiful women ever to grace the screens at Toho Studios.
I would assume finding photographs of these beautiful actresses would be considered very common in Japan, but for the foreign fan it is quite a treat to be able to see so many favorites here in this great book. My particular favorite page is a beautiful 1962 color photograph of all of Toho’s top actress’s in kimono outfits… a very stunning picture, indeed.
There is also a selection of very interesting interviews with such well known genre favorites as Akiko Wakabayashi (DOGORA, GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER), Yuriko Hoshi (MOTHRA VS GODZILLA, GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS), Yuriko Hishimi (GODZILLA VS GIGAN), Tomoko Ai (TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA), Megumi Odaka (Heisei Godzilla series), Keiko Sawai (FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD, MONSTER ZERO) and, of course, everyone’s favorite femme fatale, Kumi Mizuno (MATANGO, MONSTER ZERO, WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS). The Mizuno interview is a standout; extensive and accompanied by an excellent photo collection. I am sure this will please many fans to see her first-hand recollections about her experiences working at Toho Studios during their golden years.
Toho SFX Actress Encyclopedia is a very exciting book to add to your collection, and can be ordered through online retailers such as Amazon Japan.
