 Beams/Electric Toys are releasing the SOFVIPS Kaiju Shirimardashi Metallic Version figure from Crayon Shin-Chan. This is the same sculpt as the previously released version but with a metallic paint on the whole figure, it is 21cm tall, and retails for 12,100 yen. Mighty Jaxx is collaborating with James Groman to bring his intricate piece to life. Resembling an octopus-dragon fusion with a vaguely humanoid figure, this nightmarish creature features elaborate details in an eye-catching cinder red color scheme. This collectible is an incense chamber which adds a layer of realism to the creature. When you light an incense stick within, expect to see a layer of smoke wafting out of the holes in its body, almost as if the sculpt is living and breathing.

Mighty Jaxx is collaborating with James Groman for the first time to release an incense chamber of his intricate Cthulu interpretation. Creature of the Unknown Lovecraftian horror, named after author H.P. Lovecraft, is a subgenre of fictional horror that plays up the terror of the unknown, the incomprehensible rather than other elements of shock. The creature Cthulhu was born from the pages of his writings—a cosmic entity of great power that lies asleep in a sunken city beneath the Pacific Ocean. What Unknown Looks Like As a creature of the unknown, no one truly knows what Cthulhu looks like. Yet there are recounts from dreamers from fiction that give us a good idea—nan octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.” James Groman takes these descriptions and interprets them in his highly detailed illustration of Cthulhu, which we used as a reference for this premium collectible. To add a layer of realism, this collectible doubles up as an incense chamber which creates a layer of smoke surrounding the creature. Details and More Details We knew that we had to do James’ intricate detailing justice with this piece, which is why we carefully etched the outlines on this collectible.  "I was just a kid when I first saw the great 1954 film "Creature from the Black Lagoon" (an anaglyph 3D film!) at my local cinema. For weeks after watching the film, the images stayed in my head and I was dying to talk to someone about it. I was fascinated by the design and shape of the Creature from the Black Lagoon and its rubber suit. Years passed and I had the opportunity to create a sea creature inspired by "Creature from the Black Lagoon". At the time, my career in toy design was starting to be recognized and I was able to spend time creating my own Gill Beast. I showed the finished work to various companies and was excited to see ACRO, a company that sells soft vinyl products in Japan, show great interest. I have been familiar with ACRO's amazing lineup of remixed ultra monsters (Kaiju Remix Series). The title of this work is "Namazu", the Lord of the Deep Sea, which is a legendary creature in various parts of Japan, and is said to cause earthquakes and tsunamis. In folklore, the giant catfish is feared by people as a very ferocious and terrifying beast...but finally, the true form of "Gill Beast: Namazu" is revealed!" James Groman. Arco is releasing the Kaiju Remix Series James Groman Gill Beast Namazu figure, a designer version of the classic beast. This vinyl figure is 30cm tall, and retails for 23,000 yen (approx. $180 US).
